On the side of Mauna Loa volcano in Hawaii, six individuals are living in Mars-like conditions as part of a NASA-funded behavioral research study by the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Surrounded by lava fields, this crew will be simulating the conditions of the red planet in the hopes of informing future exploration of Mars. We chronicle their mission in 360 video.
