A map of Orangeburg County, S.C., in 1938, with what was then called Old Reevesville Road highlighted. The road has since been moved in places and renamed, and gone are any trace of the houses on its north end in 1940, when a census worker visited. Among those living there was a 4-month-old named Evelyn Moore.
